The Set Up Movie: Was it worth the hype?

Hello lovelies,

If you an avid Nigerian twitter user, you most definitely would have come across one or two tweets about the movie "The Set Up" directed by Niyi Akinmolayan.

As an avid Film & TV viewer, I decided to watch this movie because I saw positive comments and hype from lots of tweeps. The movie boasted an enviable casts of actors and actresses like Adesua-Etomi Wellington ( our own Nollywood sweetheart synonymous to the likes of Reese Witherspoon), Dakore Egbuson-Akande and Joke Silva amongst others. So, i wasn't too surprised by the hype. However, I had to watch it for myself to make an informed decision as to whether its worth the hype or not.

After watching it, here's what i think; I think its a nice movie to watch, but NO its not worth the hype. Sorry to burst your bubble, I just wont get on the hype-bandwagon.

Now lets get to the nitty-gritty of the story line which is where all my criticisms come from;

The movie follows the life of Chike, a girl born into a dysfunctional family of criminal parents who has a best friend, Grace, who is equally from a down-trodden family. Chike is portrayed as a protector of her rather timid friend Grace. Her love for her friend knows no bounds as she agreed to be a drug mule, just so she can get enough money to pay off Grace's father who wanted to sell her into Sex trafficking.

However as the story progresses, we see Chike and Grace have become criminals involved in the very lucrative, highly dangerous world of drug trafficking. Very early in the movie we are introduced to madam; a con artist and exclusive club owner. It is insinuated by Madam that Chike has successfully trafficked drugs to Malaysia, Hong Kong, Europe and across intercontinental lines, with over 10 to 15 successful trips to her name. Madam is introduced as a saviour for the girls. Madam wants the girls to work for her so she can fulfill her own personal vendetta against the Elesho family.

Here comes my first criticism:  Mafia /drug related movies are an absolute pastime of mine. I have watched movies like The Godfather, Scarface, American Gangster etc, and recently Netflix has flooded their streaming service with shows like Ozark, Narcos, Queen of the South, Breaking Bad etc. So I have a bit of knowledge of what it entails to be a drug trafficker. My knowledge comes from these movies in have watched over the years.

What I am trying to say is, for anyone to be a successful drug trafficker across intercontinental lines is a big deal. It involves a lot of money, connections and power. Successful drug mules make lots of money. Hence why some people opt to go into that world of crime. Now you say she has had 10 to 15 successful trips right? Then Chike should be in money, she should be very rich and powerful. She herself should have a successful drug empire with people working for her. She should not be portrayed as new comer drug mule who needs to run from NDLEA into the hands of a con artist / whorehouse mistress.
There are levels to this crime game. A drug trafficker is senior to a con artist. That's my opinion.
Also, drug traffickers are hardend criminals. They don't just blurt out information about their operations at the sight of threat. Chike blurting out how she ran her operations to Madam at the first encounter is very out of character for seasoned experienced drug traffickers.

If Chike has made 10-15 successful trips she was not portrayed in that light, and that is a huge hole in the story. Asides being very rich, she will also be very powerful. Trafficking drugs is not only about money its about connections and links with other equally powerful people all around the world,  who, at the snap of their fingers can make things happen. That Madam (Tina Mba) is no match for Chike if indeed she has done 10-15 trips . Also where is all the money Chike made from her 10-15 trips? I didn't get any glimpse of power, wealth or opulence. Her portrayal did not do justice to the character of a drug trafficker.

Also, i just could not understand how Madam could walk out of that building when it was swarmed with NDLEA without being stopped or questioned. Is she that powerful?
Afterwards, we see Chike and Grace now working with Madam, even though i still find that incredulous, i'll just ignore it. We are shown a scene of a Chike snatching a laptop and running away like a common pick pocket. What a demotion! From a trafficker to a common street urchin. That's a big No! That is for small time criminals. I feel this story line of a drug trafficker was not well researched and developed. It wasn't authentic. It was bland!

Moving on, Chike is tasked with helping Edem get marry Motunrayo Elesho. At least that was what she thought she was doing, until she realised the truth. I think her acting in those scenes were not authentic enough. I guess i yearned for more. More action, more expression. Now lets talk about the charge against Bamidele Elesho. I think its just so watery. Its a claim without any strong evidence. The rich and powerful have lawyers for situations like this. A solid lawyer will tear that into pieces. Also, why does that have to translate into transferring of shares? Someone please help me understand as I have so many questions left unanswered.

Along the line we get to see that Chike is being set up to take the fall with Bamidele. It doesn't just make sense to me that Grace could not tell Chike about this plot for a whole 3 months. Yes, yes, i guess she was being watched but common.... they both sleep in the same room . Common friend!
Which brings me back to my earlier point, If Chike is such a notorious drug trafficker that the US Drug Enforcement wants her, then she should have been portrayed to be powerful and highly connected.
Another question that got raised  in my head is , How possible is it to transfer shares of such magnitude without the presence of lawyers? Does death invalidate the transfer of shares already signed? Assuming it was a legal transfer

At the end we see a face-off between Madam, Chike and Edem. i must say it was not a bit impressed at all. It was lack lustre.

On a positive note, i enjoyed watching the movie, the picture quality was very good, the story line is quite different from what we have been exposed to in Nollywood in the past. It seems to that there is a gradual shift to crime related movies after the good reception of King of Boys.

Did the actors and actresses deliver their roles, well..sort of. However, I would say the best delivery was Madam played by Tina Mba ( Aunty Tina and I were neighbours many years ago. I was just a tiny winy girl less than 5 and she was a big aunty already into acting back then). Another positive to this film is the soundtracks.

Overall i would give it a 6/10, and i would recommend it to friends and family. I see the quality of movies coming out of Nollywood getting better and better.

Have you watched the movie? What are your thoughts on it?

King of Boys: Is this the best movie to come out of Nollywood?

Yesterday, I rounded up my drama-free weekend by watching Kemi Adetiba's King of Boys. A movie that has garnered much media attention and twitter rave. Since its release in 2018, I had been yearning to watch it, so immediately I saw it on Netflix, I could not wait till after the boys had gone to bed to have my me-time in front of the TV.

As a person who is very close to a film maker, I watched the movie from the lens of a movie maker as well as viewer. The movie opens with an impressive scene of the Nigerian glam we are all familiar with. We are introduced to Eniola Salami played by Sola Sobowale, a socialite who hobnobs with the high and mighty. Before the end of that scene, we get to see the different side of this woman. I found myself asking, Who is this woman? Why does she command such respect? Why is she brutal?

One of the characteristics of a good movie is the ability to catch and retain the viewers attention right from the first scene. The first scene of King of Boys caught my attention, and got me glued to my seat.

As the movie progressed, I saw a woman who is like the Robin Hood of the poor and downtrodden. Oba is shrewd yet nice, a business woman with great salesmanship. She is feisty, ruthless, assertive and charming. Oba is deliberate in her actions, not loosing focus of her ultimate goal. Oba has the characteristics of a successful psychopath.

The movie has two main plots; Eniola as Oba and the young Eniola as a girl child who experienced the harshness of life at an earlier age, and how these experiences formed who she became.  The movie played out how she tried to survive in a very harsh political climate as a powerful woman fighting for what she considered rightfully hers, setting in motion events that ultimately snowballed out of control.

We see her fighting to hold on to her political power, whilst maintaining order in her clandestine activities. She is a woman of many parts, you either hate her or love her. Other cast members put up brilliant performances too; Gobir the NCCC official who is as straight as a ruler. Kemi, Eniola's daughter from her friend who is highly educated and her mum's right hand person and not forgetting Akorede, alias makanaki; the crime lord who was tired of paying allegiance to Oba.

King of Boys is a story different from the all too familiar stories that emanate from Nollywood. It showcased the political scene of Nigerian society, the juxtaposition of Lagos life; the rich and poor, posh areas and slums. It showed us a powerful female kingmaker.

Having watched Sola Sobowale from the days of Super Story, and recently Wedding party, I was absolutely impressed by her acting, and I sincerely cannot think of any woman who could have interpreted that role the way she did. She is an actor's actor.

I cannot but commend the directing, lightening, costuming, photography that made up the movie. Kemi Adetiba is a master story teller. She gave us a movie that would for a very long time linger in my memory as the best movie to come out of Nollywood so far.

King of Boys is that movie I can proudly recommend to my non-Nigerian friends and colleagues. I am proud of that movie, proud of Kemi Adetiba, Sola Sobowale and the entire cast & crew of King of Boys

Have you watched the movie? What are your thoughts on it?

IF I WAS A HANDMAID?

I recently watched the Golden Globes Award winning and Emmy award nominated #Handmaid's Tale. A dystonian series based on the best selling novel by Margaret Atwood.

In The Handmaid's tale, a totalitarian theonomic society exists in Gilead, where society is governed by the laws of ‘God’. Gilead came to exist after a violent coup of a part of what used to be America, by a group of religious zealots.

Men are the alphas while women are brutally subjugated, and by law are not allowed to work, own property, handle money, or read

It’s a society of class, where everyone is divided into a class system.
Women are categorized into;
Wives (who wear blue and turquoise);  Marthas named after Martha in the bible, are cooks and housekeepers ( they wear green); Handmaids are fertile women subjected to child-bearing servitude( they wear red)

There's also the econowives , who are wives of lower-class men ( they wear gray);  Women prisoners called Unwomen , who are worked to death clearing toxic waste in the colonies.

Not forgetting the Aunts,  who train and oversee the handmaids (they wear brown) and Jezebels, who are prostitutes in secret brothels catering to the elite ruling class

The Male class is generally divided into;
The commanders, who are the ruling class; the Eyes,  who are a secret police watching over the general populace for signs of rebellion, and Hunters , who track down people attempting to flee the country,

Handmaids are owned by the government and subjected to child-bearing servitude. Taken from the old testament bible where Rachel offered up here handmaid, Bilhah to bear children for Jacob.
Handmaids are given to high ranking senior officers (commandants) whose wives are infertile or barren.

The main character June (Offred) is a handmaid, whose child prior to Gilead has been taken and her husband escaped to Canada. She is assigned to the home of the Gileadan Commander Fred Waterford and his wife Serena Joy.

You can get a full gist of the series here.

After the first episode, I was totally intrigued by it, and dutifully binge-watched season 1 in 3 days.

As i watched the series, i could not help, but play out scenarios in my head, and I asked myself, what would I do if I was a handmaid in Gilead?

I would never show my hatred for the system openly like Ofglen/Ofsteven. I am learning to be diplomatic in my feelings (like or dislike) about people or situations, especially if i lack the power to effect a change in the situation. i would like to draw my enemies closer, plan on my strategy and strike when unexpected after having won their trust.

  1. I would never give up on getting out of the system like offred and Ruby/Moira.
  2. I would never think of abandoning my child and flee to freedom even if the opportunity presents itself like Offred.
  3. I would form alliances with anyone feasibly possible, like Nick just to make sure I can help myself and my child
  4. I would be bold like offred (June) to give birth alone. Irrespective of experiential knowledge, she was very bold, going through labour alone and birthing a beautiful soul, all ALONE! Given the circumstances, she had no other choice.
  5. I would like to have offred as a friend, that is if I am not offred.
  6. i would try to maintain a positive outlook to the situation like of Ofwarren, even though she tried several times to kill herself.

The Handsmaids tale, has made me realise the price of freedom, the price the women suffragettes who fought for right to vote had to pay. To appreciate the freedom to be able to able to read a book, write a blog post, vote, own a bank account, have a career/business etc.

The handmaid tale is a tale of Feminism and freedom, or lack of it thereof.

If you have watched the Handmaids Tale, kindly share your thoughts on the series

Review - The Young Pope

Asides the crime series which I absolutely love, my new favourite series is The Young Pope starring Jude Law and Diane Keaton.

FIRST OF, I think Jude law is doing an excellent job in acting as a young pope with completely different ideas to old tradition and who isn't afraid to break the norm, who isn't ready to start a revolution.
Secondly, I like the opening soundtrack of the series, it sorts of opens up your mind to adventure...just like the old 007 movie soundtrack.
Thirdly, the opening montage is splendid. Especially when the young pope (Jude law) walks in slow motion down a corridor then suddenly he turns and winks...superb!!!
Fourthly,.I think this series would have been done on a huge budget. It's so beautiful and rich. Being shot mostly on location in Italy. The buildings, paintings, costume and over all atmosphere is so rich and full of the culture of the Catholic church.
Fifthly, for none Catholics like myself, it presents a beautiful glimpse into Catholism and the papacy.
Finally, am not the least amazed at the politics that goes on at the  papacy. Politics is an inevitable human nature present anywhere we are gathered. I do love the different characters represented in the series. The dialogue is fluid. With beautiful witty sarcastic statements and responses by the young pope. You get the feeling that the young pope is a man of strong character, alert and on top of his game. I find it a bit humorous as well..
If you haven't watched it, I encourage you to...especially if you are one who likes to go against the norm ☺

Living the Social Media Life

Days ago news emerged that Kim Kadarshian had been robbed at gunpoint in a Paris apartment. It was said that jewellery worth about  €7m was stolen from her. Five men got into her room, tied her up, gagged her and locked her in the bathroom. The thieves made away with 2 mobile phones and jewellery worth about €7m.

It was said that days before the robbery, she had posted a picture on Instagram showing a huge diamond rock on her finger. That  ring is estimated to be worth about €3m and its one of the jewellery stolen from her. Kim had been attending the Paris Fashion Show.

So why am I talking about it?

Well, some security analysts say the thieves may have been alerted to the ring via pictures she posted on social media. Or, the thieves may have seen her up and about in Paris. Some others say the thieves may have posed as Paparazzi and tailed her to her hotel. Investigations are ongoing.

A lot of folks nowadays live their lives on social media. They document all their life activities on social media. They check in on their present location in Facebook, post pictures of their going out and coming in on Instagram. When they go to the market it's on fb, when they go for holiday it's on Facetime when they go to toilet it's on snapchat, when they sleep it's on Twitter, they eat they post pictures on Instagram...everything about their lives is documented on social media.
They alert the world to all that's happening to them and open themselves up to security risks.

Some houses have been burgled because the owners posted their present location  on facebook thereby letting the robbers know that are not home.
Really, except your making money via regular updates on social media, then you should be careful what you post on sm.

Am not saying people shldnt update their status or be active online....but heyyyy be careful. Social Media has it's plenty pros. Businesses around the world have used socail media to boost sales.  People have become Insta-celebrities and millionaires. There is a lot of good on social media as well as bad. It's left to you to utilize it to your interests.

On other matters.I came across this on Twitter #RunwithOmojuwa. I sent a tweet asking what the run is about. I got a response from #Truppr explaining that the Run is to raise awareness about health living and exercise. So to all my readers in Abuja and Lagos, you may consider joining in.

So I leave you with these words "Be the best of you"

Movie Review Friday: The Man From U.N.C.L.E

Its been a while i did a movie review, and that's because although i have watched some new movies, but i did not watch them in a very relaxed environment, where i can watch with a keen mind.

However, yesterday i keenly watched the movie, The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E is a Guy Ritchie’s screen adaptation of the 1960s TV series written by Ian Fleming (Author of James Bond books). For those who don't  know who Guy Ritchie is, well, he was Madonna's ex'husband , but his more popularly known as an English filmmaker who likes making crime films.

His popular movies are Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels -1998, Snatch-2000 (which i thoroughly enjoyed watching), Sherlock Holmes-2009 and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows-2011.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E was released in August, 2015 and it starrs Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) and Hugh Grant (Four Weddings and a Funeral)

If you're looking for a James Bond Kinda movie  but with a sense of humour, then you need to watch this movie.

Set in the 1960s during the cold war, former thief turned CIA agent Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill) and Russian KGB agent( Armie Hammer) have to work together to prevent atomic annihilation.  As expected, these model-gorgeous agents try to show-off their skills, while each being ordered to kill the other at the end of the operation where necessary

With James bond kind-of fight scenes, and supposed charm of Solo, especially with women, this may be the only espionage thriller where the lead males argue about fashion.

With a couple of humorous scenes and a little feel of Italy, this movie will entertain  you.

Feel free to send me your thoughts on the movie

The Super Brand called Oprah- $700 Million richer!!!

So we all know that Oprah Winfrey is a brand; We are aware of her OWN Network, O magazine , Oprah Winfrey Show and so forth and so on.

But then Oprah is not just a brand, she is a powerful brand, a super brand that changes other brands and any company or business that associates with such a brand is a sure winner.

Weight Watchers is a company known for helping people loose weight. One popular celebrity who is known to have lost weight via Weight Watchers is Jennifer Hudson, who later on became a brand ambassador for the company.

According to Fortune. com, Weight Watchers which is 52 years old, has struggled in recent years to reclaim its market might, and in February 2012, its stock peaked at $80.

For a total of $43 million, Winfrey purchased 6.4 million shares with the option to buy 3.5 million more ore (an additional 5% stake). Her bet has already paid off, and then some.

Weight Watchers’ stock spiked to more than $13 per share from just under $6.8 -per share at market close on Friday. Tuesday, the company’s stock price soared to more than $18 per share, more than doubling her return on investment. For a total of $43 million, Winfrey purchased 6.4 million shares with the option to buy 3.5 million more (an additional 5% stake). If that is not a super brand, then what is? In just 2 days..she turned the fortunes of Weight Watchers around. I have read Oprah's grass to grace story so many times. She gives me encouragement. I remember when Oprah Show was still on air....i was such an ardent viewer. I would say..I dream of being like her 'businessically' (am sure there's no word like that).

Thumbs up to a great brand -OPRAH.

I would love to read your comments.

#teeteemoviereview 4: Addicted

Its another weekend again......yeahhhhhhh!!!! and its time to wake up late, relax, do your house chores and watch a movie!!

So last month I watched this very interesting movie, and I think you'll enjoy watching it too.

Before I proceed, please do not watch this movies with kids around. It is rated 18.

Addicted is an erotic thriller movie that deals with infidelity in a marriage.  Unlike what most people think, its the woman who did the cheating.

The movie stars a lot of black casts like Tyson Beckford ( a supermodel), Sharon Leal ( Tyler Perry's 'Why Did I Get Married'), Boris Kodjoe (Kevin Hart's 'Real Husbands of Hollywood'), and those of you who are addicted to Mexican Soap Operas or Telemundo will be familiar with William Levy.

The movie follows the story of  a seemingly successful black woman who has a thriving business, loving husband ( the kind we all want), and beautiful kids. Underneath that beautiful life is her need for sex 24/7...I mean she literally cannot discipline herself.  She is a nymphomaniac.

Later on in the movie, I discovered she has sex with her husband like 2 to 3 times everyday, and she aint satisfied, and am like What????????? Anyways, since her hubby wasn't giving her enough of what she wanted, she had to go outside her marriage to get it, and of course things got ugly.  In fact very ugly.

For those of you who appreciate fine clothing.. you'll love the wardrobe of the lead actress, and the décor of her home. However, this movie has lots of sex scenes. Quite frankly, I never expected to see the lead actress (Sharon Leal) act such a sexually charged movie, with lots of sexual scenes and nudity.

Another eye catcher in the movie is Boris Kodjoe..my my, that guy is good looking and very fit. (Reminds me of my hubby. lol)

For me, the most important lesson from the movie is Communication in Marriage.

I sincerely think, the movie was well acted. Even though its a low budget film...and it made profit at the Box Office. As per ratings, it didn't do too well. But, notwithstanding, its a very interesting movie to watch, especially for couples.

#teetee'sRatings: 7

Anyways, please watch the movie and let me know your thoughts.

#teeteemoviereview 3: CHEF

If you a food lover like I am, then you need to watch the movie Chef.

It's a very interesting
movie that borders around food, taking a step towards your dreams, standing up for what you believe in, the challenges of achieving your dreams, and sweet success.

The movie has an interesting cast consisting of amiable Sofia Vergara, Robert Downey Jr. (One of my favorite actors) Oliver Platt, Scarlett Johansson, Dustin Hoffman and Jon Favreau ( who wrote, directed and co-produced the movie. He is also the main character)

Favreau is a professional chef who works in a restaurant. He had an altercation with a food critic, the consequence beign that he had to quit his job, leave LA and return to his home town Miami.(I just love Miami....one of the places I want to visit).

This chef hit rock bottom, he had to swallow his pride by receiving favour from his ex-wife and her ex-husband (confusing abi....)But the good part is, he started again. This time, doing what he loves doing....He started a food truck, and oh my....the meals cooked in the truck will make you salivate.

Now, he didn't just start all over again alone, he had help and support from His ex-wife (Sofia), his son(the social media guru) and his friend Martin. The movie emphasizes on the impact of social media on business.

What I Love about the movie.

The Storyline: very realistic, touching and heartfelt. I mean it could happen to anybody. Its a story a lot of people can relate to

The Food: There's no way I wouldn't love the food. Those who know me, know I like good food.

The Location: The movie had scenes in LA, Miami, New Orleans and Austin Texas...nice places you would agree

The Father-Son Bond: In my opinion, his boy portrayed a well behaved, focused, disciplined son. Am not sure if there are a lot of boys his age who would be ready to take up responsibility. The boy motivated me. Also, it taught me family is familiar. As parents we must work hard to bond with our kids and vice versa.

On a final note...this movie is a comedy drama, so you'll really need to listen to the conversation very well to get a better understanding.

Mind you, please don't watch this movie on an empty stomach ...hehehehehehe

One Love!!!

Movie Review 'THINK LIKE A MAN TOO'

Hello dearies,

Its December already!!!! how time flies. I don't know about you, but i love December, not because its Christmas, and Christmas means Love, Sharing etc...but because Christmas means HOLIDAYS!!!!!!!

So in the Spirit of HOLIDAYS, i have already started enjoying myself and giving myself a treat.

The last couple of months have been sad and sorrowful for me (Y'all know i lost my mum), but i am determined to enjoy myself this December, and get my 'happy-mojo' back.

On Monday, i spent the evening with a dear friend of mine, and we watched the movie 'Think Like a Man TOO'

I totally enjoyed the movie. It was hilarious, bubbly, and had a nice cast.

I particularly like that, unlike the first installment, it was a more mixed cast with a fair share of white actors and actresses.

But....even though i enjoyed it, i still think PART 1 was better.

I mean, the story line in Part 1 was well defined and made COMPLETE sense. Most if not all ladies who watched that movie learnt a thing or two from it. (Raise your hands if you agree)

Also, the dialogues of PART 1 was more hilarious and 'put-together'. Every character's story was well defined and articulated. We clearly understood 'the mummy's boy', 'the dreamer', 'the non-commital', 'the playboy', 'the good husband', 'the divorcee'. We all know or have heard of someone like that..don't we?

However, in this Part 2..i really couldn't understand their characters, except that the movie portrayed that they carried on with their new found loves, and homes.

I also didn't understand Gabrielle Union and her hubby's role..I mean what exactly was the issue with their marriage?

Somehow, i got lost in between the craziness of Las Vegas, Kevin Hart's hotel suite and all the bruhahahaha.

Hey, am not saying the movie isn't nice, but the first installment is better. That's my own opinion.

Finally, a plus for PART 2. I liked the makeup and fashion of the ladies too...even the men looked dapper. The bribe's wedding dress is simple and chic. The stylist did a great job.

Please look out for Kevin Hart's ankara shirt and short. ( I believe its Ankara)...i would love to make that for my hubby.

So dearies... thats my opinion of the movie.. what's yours?

GOD BLESS YOU SILLY

Solidarity for Linda Ikeji

Hello peoples,

So yesterday was a rather interesting day, interesting because i never thought that my dear beloved blog #Lindaikeji.blogspot.com would be taken down by Google, over what?

I am very saddened by this as everyday i take a dose of #Lindaikejiblog dose. I can candidly say as well as millions of other Nigerians in Nigeria and diaspora that i get most of my entertainment news, especially local Nigerian news from her blog.

So not been able to get that dose this morning is sickening.

I ask myself WHY WHY WHY??? why would Google to that to a thriving business. I mean, Linda's blog has encouraged a lot of us bloggers to blog. We hope to achieve her kind of success..

All this bad belle people....who are unhappy about her success. 'Diarisgod ooo'

So in light of this, i would appreciate if fellow bloggers can show solidarity for her. What can we do to help her? Do we write a petition to Google?

Suggestions pleaaaaaseeeeeee?????

SUNDAY POST: EVERY DAY IS A CHANCE- Geoffrey Oji (Project Fame 7.0)

Happy Sunday Y'all

So this Sunday, I did not go to church but i was tremendously blessed.

First of all, the fact that I didn’t go to church did not deter me from having service in my house. After all, the Bible says where 2 or 3 are gathered. So myself and family members (4 of us ) had church in the house. We did praise and worship, shared the word and prayed. (Oh we forgot to take offering). Now in the midst of this I got a personal revelation about my relationship with God. “Seek Ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness and ALL other things shall be added..so I have decided to SEEK….

Secondly, I also took out time to go visit a friend. Friends are angels like one of my friends said, especially when you have good friends. We had a good time chatting and exchanging laughs

Thirdly, there is this TV show I am addicted to..PROJECT FAME!!! Oh My, I love that show…thumbs up to MTN for such tremendous work. I must say #ProjectFame is the best TV Musical reality show in Nigeria.

So on the show today I watched the various contestants perform their own songs and I was exceptionally touched by Ugo’s Rain on Me, and MOST exceptionally BLOWN AWAY by Geoffrey’s EVERY DAY IS A CHANCE…Oh my, the guy always blows my mind. Not only is he handsome (Like my hubby), he also has an amazing voice.
Personally he is my favourite, and I do vote for him.

I also have a special fondness for Clement as well, he is my second favorite contestant.

So back to Geoffrey’s Message… I don’t know but messages like this always get to me. He said 'everyday is a chance..give to someone and give to me….. '

His message was to touching, and very apt for the present day. Like Ms Bibi Brew said...its a positive message. So that's the picture of Geoffrey. He is a Nigerian living and schooling in Ghana. He is from Benue state.

During the week , they had surprise visits from their family and friend, and his mum visited him. I appreciate the fact that he asked his mum to pray for him there. I mean, he knelt down and asked his mum to pray for him. Wow!!...such positivism and spirituality is commendable.

So finally, i had a good Sunday
, i was blessed spiritually, musically and emotionally too.
Hope you enjoyed your Sunday as well.

Thanks for dropping by

One Love!!!

Hey! Stop for a Minute..and Show Some Love

This post is inspired by Joan Rivers..May her soul rest in peace

My husband would testify to the fact the Fashion Police is one of my best TV shows. He knows that he can't change the channel when am watching Fashion Police. I love the show because of her comic and caustic analysis of celebrity fashion.

So real was she, that she was never afraid or ashamed to throw jabs at herself.

However, what prompted me to write this post was when I watched the tribute to her on E, and I learnt about her philanthropic side.

She founded a non-profit organization called 'God’s Love We Deliver', which started out by giving food to people living with HIV/AIDS in New York.

I was so touched by how seriously she devoted herself to that cause. So much so, that she donated her prize money at Donald Trump’s The Apprentice to the organization, which has now grown to provide food for people living with other diseases.

This got me thinking…and i asked myself the question? have I shown love to the less priviledged in recent times? I mean, if Joan could take time out of her very busy life to devote herself to such a cause, then what am I doing? apparently, am not as busy as she is.

Some may say 'Oh she’s got the money for such a feat'. Or you may say, 'am still hustling', when I ‘hammer’ I will donate. Well…you don’t need to have or own the whole world before you can give. I believe even in your down time, there’s someone who is worse off than you.

So hey! stop for a minute and show some love to someone around you. You may not be able to start an NGO, but look around you, there will be someone who will appreciate a little love. It may be your gateman, that woman that sells ‘boli’, or your office cleaner.

So dearies, in the midst of our hustle..lets stop and make a difference in someone’s life.

Adieu Joan Rivers…Inspector General of Fashion Police.

One Love!!!

Movie Review-Temptations: Lessons Learnt

A beautiful day to you all....

On this post am going to be reviewing the movie "Temptations". I thought to talk about it, because the movie is based on marriage and the challenges therein. Sometime last month a friend of mine told me about the movie 'Temptations' by Tyler Perry, and she said i must watch it. Prior to her call, i had seen the preview, and as an ardent Tyler Perry follower, i had promised myself i would watch it.

So last week, I, Hubby and another friend decided to go watch the movie at the cinema. It was an enjoyable story, how be it a very simple practical storyline.

So, here are my thoughts on the movie. Its just my thoughts...not in any way judgmental. Its just my lessons learnt.

1. ANYONE can cheat- lets not be carried away with the fact that men cheat more often. The truth is women also cheat..and its even worse for us. And don't think you are AUTO-IMMUNE.

2. Husbands or wives....NEVER EVER take your spouse for granted. ( I think Brice took Judith for granted. He stopped paying attention to her needs, her visions, her passion)

3. Par-adventure any of your spouse is very ambitious( Like Judith was), SUPPORT their dreams. Speak words that will encourage them. (Brice failed to ignite Judith's Ambitions)

4. EXPOSURE is KEY....It was obvious Judith was not exposed to the 'big' life. Even though she was intelligent, smart..she was not street smart. That was why Harley could see through her easily, and seduce her.

5. ALL that glitters in not GOLD- Especially for the womenfolk. That smart, clean, bloke may not be all that he is. Neither am i saying that all smart, clean, rich intelligent guys are bad...but 'Shine Your Eyes'.(Judith learnt that the hard way.

6. SWAG doesn't necessarily mean the best. Harley had swag, Brice was bland...but it turned out Brice was the true guy.

Witness heard "non-stop shouting" from Pistorius home

Witnesses heard "non-stop shouting" in the home of Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius shortly before his girlfriend was shot dead, the lead detective in the murder investigation said on Wednesday.
Warrant officer Hilton Botha, a detective with 24 years on the force, also told the Pretoria magistrates court that police had found two containers of testosterone and needles in Pistorius' bedroom.
Pistorius, a double amputee known as the "Blade Runner" because of his high-technology carbon fibre blades, broke down in tears as Botha presented his testimony about the death of law graduate and model Reeva Steenkamp, 29.
The shooting and allegations that have emerged at the bail hearing have stunned South Africa and the millions around the world who saw the track glory of the athlete, who has no lower legs, as an inspiring tale of triumph over adversity.
In an affidavit delivered on Tuesday, Pistorius said he slept with a 9-mm pistol under his bed and had grabbed it when he awoke in the middle of the night thinking an intruder had climbed through his bathroom window and entered the adjoining toilet.
The 26-year-old - the most successful athlete in the history of the Paralympics - then described how he fired into the toilet door in a blind panic, in the belief the intruder was lurking in the toilet.
In his testimony, Botha disputed Pistorius' affidavit.
"I believe he knew she was in the bathroom and he shot four shots through the door," the detective said, adding that the angle at which the rounds were fired suggested they were aimed deliberately at somebody on the toilet.
Pistorius had said he moved into the bathroom on his stumps - the reason he felt so vulnerable.
But Botha said the shots appear to have been fired in a "top to bottom" trajectory, suggesting Pistorius was wearing his artificial legs when he pulled the trigger.
Botha said a witness on the upscale gated community north of Pretoria where Pistorius lived had spoken of a domestic argument coming from the athlete's home between 2am and 3 am.
One witness then said he heard a shot, followed 17 minutes later by more shots, Botha said. Another witness spoke of a shot followed by screams, followed by more shots, he added.
Steenkamp was hit in the head, arm and hip in the locker-sized toilet room adjoining the bathroom, which itself led from the bedroom.- Reuters
