Love Your Perfect Imperfections

One of my favorite songs this season is 'All of You' by  John Legend.  I love that song so much because it reaches deep to my soul, makes me feel good , happy and gooey. It makes me enjoy being loved and being in love.

Actually, I have always loved John Legend and his songs. At a time he was my #2 celebritycrush, #1 being Will Smith. Heheheheheh!!!..If my husband catch me ehn..

Anyway, the song says Love your perfect imperfections. Do you know your seemingly imperfection is beautiful to someone else? I once knew a very pretty girl, who was knock kneed. As in her legs were very 'K', but she was still pretty and had all the boys flocking around her.

Truth is, when love finds you, your imperfections don't matter. You may say, Oh my nose is too big (like me), or my lips are too thin or too full. Some say, i have small boobs, i wish i had big hips etc. Some people will even say, am too dark skinned, or too short, or too skinny, most times we say, i am too fat etc.

My dearies, LEARN to love and flaunt your imperfections. Did you know that everyone, no matter how seemingly perfect they look have a flaw?( Some people corrected their flaws with surgery) I think that does flaws are GOD's way of humbling us all.. sort of.

Am not saying we should not seek self improvement. If your flaw can be corrected through surgery, or exercise or dieting, why not. But if it's something you cant correct..then..EMBRACE it and LOVE it.

LOVE you, LOVE your big nose(am talking to myself). LOVE your square chin, LOVE your big ears. LOVE your perfect imperfections.

If you are BIG and CURVY,with the african woman physique, FLAUNT it with the right clothes, if your slim FLAUNT it, if you're 'leggy' FLAUNT it. Have a SWAG no matter what.

Thanks for dropping by.. One LOVE!!!

Getting Your Mumjo Back Part II

Hello Dearies,

Am back with a continuation of the post i started last week. If you missed it, you can read it here.

Last week i started on products that could hep us mums and mums-to-be get our 'MUMJO' back after delivery. Today am going to be talking about some commercial products that i know to be good.

Please note that, I have NOT been paid in any way to advertise any brand, although that would be a welcome development .Hehehe!!!! Afterall, money makes the world go round.

I have tried these products and they are working for me. Howbeit, for those of you who know me personally, please do not expect to see me looking flawless, spotless, stretch-mark-less ( Hahaha...i just coined that word). I am work in progress.

So, here are some of the products that would help us get back our facial complexion, smoothen any roughness, fade dark spots and also fight ageing.( You may think you are not ageing., but here's news for you; AS LONG AS you've dropped 1 kid...SISTER, you have started ageing.)

1. MaryKay TimeWise MicroDemabrasion Set

I cannot explain why most women have rough facial skin during pregnancy, i guess its caused by hormones. This roughness is likely to clear off after delivery, sometimes it doesn't clear. However to get that velvety smoothness, i recommend this product. It contains an exfoliating tube and a moisturizing tube.
I use it (whenever i remember) and i feel the instant smoothness of my skin. Am certain with continued usage, i would get incredible results.
Its a bit pricey, but its an INVESTMENT for your skin.

2. Mary Kay Revitalising Mask

If you cannot afford to buy the MicroDemabrasion Set, you can use this product to exfoliate your skin, and then get another good product to moisturize. You could use it as a facial mask or facial scrub.

3. Black Opal (Even Skin Tone Brightening Cream and Exfoliating Soap)

Up until recently, I have been using Black Opal product. I remember i got my first product at a cosmetics shop in Marina Lagos in 2010, and i must say i loved using the product. It gave me skin a POLISHED tone, and made me look clean and 'ajebutterish'. Although they have changed their packaging, this new product looks improved. Currently, I am not using it, but the moment i lay my eyes on it, am going to purchase it and use it. For better results, you can combine it with the soap.

..................................................................................................................................
Bottom line is, we need to EXFOLIATE and MOISTURIZE our skin to get back that tone and elasticity. Some of us need to tone our skins too (Please toning is NOT the same as bleaching ooo!).

There are numerous products in the market you can choose from, just ensure they do not contain harsh chemicals which are hazardous for your skin. I would never recommend the use of any product that contains Hydroquinone.

Next week, i would be writing about natural products that can help our skin.

I would appreciate your inputs, suggestions, comments or questions relating to this post.

Thanks for dropping by.

One Love!!!

Getting Your Mumjo( Mummy groove) Back. Part 1

Getting Your MumjoMummy groove) Back.  Part 1

So are you a new mother like I am? Or are you an experienced mother whose had 2, 3 or 4 kids?

Irrespective of how many kids you've had, one thing thats specific to motherhood is the changes in your body ( Shape, Skin elasticity, Complexion, Size).

Prior to being pregnant and having a baby, i used to tell myself i was going to be one hot mama. I thought all i had to do was watch my diet and do some exercises..but Voila!!! I can categorically say am so wrong.

For most women, except those with exceptionally good genes, we have to deal with lots of things like; stretch marks, sagging abdominal skin, change in skin tone and extra pounds of flesh. While some women loose their sense of style and fashion because of their new body shape. Some loose confidence in themselves, especially when they look into the mirror and see those stretch marks.

So, my question is as a woman and mother how do you get your groove back? How do you become that trendy, fashionista woman you once were?

I once watched an episode of Guiliana & Bill on E Entertainment Channel, and she used the word 'Mumjo' while referring to her mum's youthful and trendy looks. From her interpretation, Mumjo means Mummy + Mojo = Mumjo.

From my point of view and little experience, they are areas that a new mum or a woman who recently delivered should focus one.

1.Skin Tone/ Complexion

Pregnancy greatly affects the skin. Some women have smoother, supple skin during pregnancy. They even become fairer and look more beautiful in the course of those nine months, but after delivery their skin reverses.

On the other hand, some ladies become darker, have lots of acne, rough face and look very 'ugly' during this period, and after delivery their skin gradually returns back to normal.

Irrespective of how your skin reacts during pregnancy, after delivery take extra steps to take care of your skin. I call it 'pampering'. Pamper your skin, because your skin is you.

Although i use commercial products for my skin, am a sticker for natural, home-made remedies.

Examples of remedies you can use to pamper your skin are Tomatoes, Honey, Lemon, Olive Oil, Sugar, Cucumber.

You can also use commercial products.

In my next episode i'll be sharing tips on the home remedies and commercial products you can use, and their effect on your skin.

If you've got comments or suggestions, dont forget to drop a comment.

One Love!!!
